ASL classes at Gallaudet University may not be equivalent to classes you have taken at other locations.  The ASL Placement Test (ASLPT) gauges your proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and determines the suitable ASL Connect ASL class level for you. The ASLPT consists of a receptive examination involving the viewing of videos and providing correct answers. It evaluates understanding of ASL grammar, production, and semantics.  Here is the link for more information about ASLPT.

The ASLPT requires a computer with internet access, and all questions are presented in a multiple-choice format.  When registering for the course, please review the course descriptions and select the one that seems to fit your current skill level.  Then, it will automatically a requirement prompt to take ASLPT.  In few days, you will receive an email with instructions how to take the ASLPT with specific link assigned to you.

NOTE: If you are planning to take ASL 1, you do not need to take the ASL Placement Test (ASLPT).
