Announcement - April 21

Dear Campus Community:

See above to watch this message in American Sign Language.

The search committee for the Vice President, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (VPEDI), also known as the Chief Diversity Officer (CDO), was pleased with the pool of candidates. We are excited to announce that we have three finalists for the CDO position. Each finalist brings to the position a unique set of strengths and significant learning curves in at least one major area related to the job.

All finalists will be coming to campus for day-long visits with stakeholder groups, including students, faculty, staff, and the Clerc Center. Campus presentations will take place during common time from 12:30 to 1:50 p.m. on April 27, May 2, and May 4, 2017.

The finalists are (in alphabetical order):

  • Donna Hay-Jones
    Presentation: Tuesday, May 2, 2017
  • Elavie Ndura
    Presentation: Thursday, April 27, 2017
  • Charity Warigon
    Presentation: Thursday, May 4, 2017

Community input is very important in this process. Please come to all of the campus presentations so that you can give direct feedback to the search committee. Feedback forms will be distributed during the presentations.

Upon completion of the campus visits, the search committee will review community input and provide President Cordano with a synthesis of candidate strengths and learning curve areas. Further, the search committee will make suggestions for how each candidate needs to be supported for success at Gallaudet University should they be selected as our next CDO. Please note that the search committee will not be ranking finalists.

Keep an eye out for email updates and Daily Digest announcements to receive updates on the presentations, including the locations, and to read the finalist candidates' biographical information. You can also consult the website related to the search and send any inquiries to the committee co-chairs at cdo.search@gallaudet.edu.

We look forward to welcoming the finalists to campus over the next two weeks!

Sincerely,
Gaurav Mathur
