Module 2 - Understanding Hearing: How the Ear Works and How to Test Hearing in Infants

Module 2 focuses on providing information on how the ear works and how sound travels through the auditory system. It also delves into how hearing is assessed in newborns and young children.

In Module 2, you will:

  • develop an understanding of how the ear works,   
  • learn about the various hearing tests available for infants and young children,
  • develop an understanding of the different ways sound is transmitted through the ear during testing,     
  • learn the components of the audiogram and how to read and interpret test results, and   
  • develop an understanding of the types of hearing loss.
