Module 5 - Cochlear Implants: The Basics

Module 5 provides information on cochlear implants, surgical considerations, activation, and expectations.

In Module 5, you will:  

  • learn about the audiologic criteria for cochlear implantation, 
  • see how a cochlear implant works,
  • develop an understanding of the surgical procedure,
  • learn about the activation process and appropriate expectations, 
  • develop an understanding of bilateral implantation considerations, and
  • learn about the factors that impact a positive outcome.
