The Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) Performing Arts Program cordially invites you to attend our performances this season, perfect for audiences of all ages.

Fall Showcase: James and the Giant Peach

Directed by Jessica Willoughby

A magical peach! An imprisoned boy! Insect friends! An incredible journey! This amazing adventure written by Roald Dahl tells the tale of James Henry Trotter, an orphan with terrible aunts for his guardians. James befriends human-like bugs who live inside a giant peach in the garden, and together they escape on a journey across an ocean from England to New York City.

Audiences will experience a myriad of dance styles—Jazz, Modern, Ballet, Funk, African, Hip-Hop, Emotional, and Contact Improvisation as expressed by the MSSD dancers and an array of talented guest artists and companies.

Spring Musical: The Wizard of Oz

Directed by Tami Santimyer

Travel down the Yellow Brick Road, with the beloved characters of Frank L. Baum’s Wizard of Oz. After a tornado whisks the young Dorothy away from home to the enchanted land of OZ, she and her new-found friends Scarecrow, Tin Woodsman, and the Cowardly Lion must avoid the clutches of the Wicked Witch of the West as they try to help Dorothy return to Kansas. The Wicked Witch will do her best to steal the mysterious magic slippers that once belonged to her evil sister but are now on Dorothy's feet. Dorothy eventually learns just how magical friendship can be and how wonderful it can feel to go home again.
