Big Thanks to Reading Is Fundamental for KDES Book Donations
KDES Mom, Rachel Mingo, reads aloud "Kitten's First Full Moon" to first and second graders.
Each KDES student in 12 groups selected a free book, courtesy of Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), to keep for his or her very own during the week of November 5-12. Parent and KDES staff volunteers came to do read aloud with nine of the groups. The remaining three groups of middle school students had fun reading their new books as part of their Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R.) time.
RIF is the nation's oldest and largest nonprofit children's literacy organization. They will host another book distribution at KDES in January 2010.
Thanks to RIF for the wonderful new books for our students, and to the parent and staff volunteers who helped make the week a success!
