Family Story Hour at the Martin Luther King Library
The Family Story Hour will take place in the Children's Division, Room 200 (Second Floor) of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library, 901 G Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. as part of the library's celebration of the Clerc-Gallaudet Week (December 6-12, 2009).
ASL Storyteller , Lisa Jacobs, Director of the Gallaudet University Regional Center, Mid-Atlantic Region, will perform Marc Brown's Arthur's First Sleepover in American Sign Language. The story is one of ten Arthur titled featured in the Clerc Center's Shared Reading Book Bag series.
Families will have an opportunity to learn more about Shared Reading Project, developed at the Clerc Center, with over 30 sites around the U.S. There will be goodie bags for children, information packets for parents, and refreshments for all.
Following the story time, therapy dog owners will show the audience how they use hand signals to communicate with the dogs.
