Handling Food Safely: Signcasts

Deaf and hard of hearing children may watch signcasts on this website on a variety of topics related to safe food handling, or the families and professionals working with them may watch them for ideas on how to explain this important information to their children. From the Food Safety and Inspection Service, a federal office, Be Food Safe video-cast in American Sign Language featuring text-captioning are designed to inform deaf and hard-of-hearing consumers about foodborne illness and raise the level of awareness of the dangers associated with improper handling and undercooking of food.

Children who bring lunch to school will benefit from watching the first Webcast listed on this page, "Back to School Food Safety."
