KDES Graduates Look towards High School and the Future
The Kendall Demonstration Elementary School (KDES) eighth grade graduates joined family and friends for a ceremony in their honor on June 9.
Students Emmanuel Njoku and Mary Ann Gardner acted as Masters of Ceremonies. Each of them served on the student body government and shared a special memory from their KDES years. Nijoku recalled the math competition at Rochester Technical Institute math competition where by chance he ended up competing against one of his KDES team mates-at first it was awkward, but each one tried their hardest and the team placed well over all. Gardner remembered how thrilling the competition was for the Tri-State basketball held this year which they won.
Science Sara Gillespie, who is retiring after 25 of teaching, was the guest speaker. She gave an analogy of how the students started out as rough rocks, which over the course of their education, have been polished into fine gems.
Congratulations to our KDES graduates and best wishes for a successful transition to high school.
