Kendall Parent-Teacher Association Looks Forward to a Great Year!

Kendall Parent-Teacher Association (KPTA) president Eric S. Scott is excited to share plans for the coming year for Kendall Demonstration Elementary School (KDES).

"We have a number of activities planned for this year," said Scott. "To support literacy, for the third year in a row we will participate in Jumpstart's Read for the Record© with the Early Childhood Education classes and grades one through three by reading A Snowy Day, by Ezra Jack Keats, on October 7. We are asking for volunteers to read these books to the classes. Just by participating, we may receive credit to purchase books for our school library. Another opportunity for which we need parent volunteers is the Scholastic Book Fair from October 15-22. The proceeds from these sales will also benefit the KDES library."

KDES Movie Nights, held four nights a year, are a fun gathering for families, who have the chance to socialize, enjoy light snacks, and take in a popular movie shown with captions.

Other fundraising activities include: Mabel's Labels; Sally Foster Gift Wrap; Entertainment Books; Joe Corbi Pizza/Cookie Dough Sales; and participating in grocery store receipt programs like the Giant Foods A+ Bonus Bucks Program and Safeway eScrip, and store programs like SchoolPax with Footlocker, Subway, Target, and Verizon Wireless.

"I would like to offer my congratulations and appreciation to my fellow KPTA officers. We are looking forward to a wonderful year supporting our school," said Scott.

This year's new KPTA officers:

President: Eric S. Scott (continuing as president)
Vice President: Chris Brown (2 yrs)
Co-Treasurer: Jenny Nygaard (2 yrs)
Co-Treasurer: Sally Rabo-Gibbs (2 yrs)
Secretary: Jesse Saunders (1 year)
