Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)
The Clerc Center began the transition to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in English/Language Arts and mathematics several years ago and is in the third year of implementing new curriculum aligned with these standards in all classes K-12. The spring 2014 administration of the state assessments demonstrates that the implementation of grade level standards and the opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned in a standards-based environment is still developing.
Based on guidance from the US Department of Education, these results now reflect recalculation using the Ohio Achievement Standards. They underscore the need to continue directing instructional attention to supporting students' achievement of grade-level expectations, as defined by the college and career-ready common core standards, and preparing them to take the next generation of assessments beginning in 2015. As we are aligned with the state of Ohio, we are in the process of transitioning to administering new assessments developed by the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and careers (PARCC) and the state of Ohio.
