Welcome to the 2011-2012 School Year
The 2011-2012 school year is upon us! Kendall Demonstration Elementary School (KDES) extends a warm welcome back to students and families for the 2011-2012 school academic year.
Classes begin on August 22 for students enrolled in kindergarten through 8th grades. The first day of school for students enrolled in preschool and pre-kindergarten is August 29. Parent-Infant Program (PIP) classes resume on September 7 for Monday/Wednesday sessions and on September 8 for Tuesday/Thursday sessions.
Kendall Demonstration Elementary School (KDES) is located on the campus of Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. Did you also know that Gallaudet grew out from the original Kendall School established by Amos Kendall on his farm in 1857? Today, KDES provides educational support for deaf and hard of hearing students in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area starting with the parent-infant program and continuing through eighth grade.
