Content Management System (CMS) upgrade scheduled
Gallaudet Technology Services (GTS) is excited to announce that we are moving our Content Management System (CMS) and Website to the cloud. Currently, we manage and maintain both on local servers which require significant resources. Having these systems hosted on a cloud-based server will not only allow us to provide better service to our Web community and their needs, but will also minimize system disruptions, increase speed and efficiency, and eliminate the use of the Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access the system off-campus.
What to expect
During this transition, the CMS will be shut down on Monday, August 18 at 5 p.m. for up to two days while we transfer content. The Gallaudet websites will remain up and running but this shut down means that web authors will NOT be able to create or update their pages during this time.
Daily Digest submitters will still be able to submit their announcements and events, however, Public Relations staff will NOT be able to review or approve any submissions. It is suggested that if you have announcements to run during this time period, you should submit them by Friday, August 15. Otherwise, no new announcements will be run in the Daily Digest until the CMS is back online.
Once this work is completed, we will make another announcement.
Web Community Forum Event
We also are excited to announce that we will have a Web Community Forum meeting on Thursday, August 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. in MLC B111. Please feel free to invite others who may be interested in attending this forum. We will have interpreters and CART.
If you have any questions and/or concerns, please submit a ticket with the Help Desk.
