Wireless and dormitory network updates
Wireless and Dormitory Network Updates
Gallaudet Technology Services Network Operations will be changing the face of the BisonNet wireless network on Monday, August 11 at 7:30 a.m. Using your Gallaudet credentials, you will still be able to login and register your devices for use on the network and will need to do so in order to use the wireless service. What has changed is the ability to manage your registrations and sponsor systems for your guests that are visiting campus.
What to expect Monday
The bulk of the work needed to bring the new system on-line will happen behind the scenes. Starting at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, as the necessary changes are made, the BisonNet wireless network will be unstable and you may experience some dropped connections. When complete, any devices that you've registered in the recent past will continue to work the same; current registrations will be migrated into the new system. Over the week, these registrations will expire and you will be prompted to log in an re-register your device.
This same system will also be deployed for the wired network in all of the dormitories on Monday. Residential students will be able to view and manage their registered systems and devices using this one application.
Also at this time, the CCA-Phaseout wireless network will no longer be visible. Please discontinue use of this network as soon as possible as this service will be decommissioned on August 25.
More information about using the new registration program, general instructions on how to set up your device, how to sponsor a guest, and quick troubleshooting items can be found on the GTS site: http://www.gallaudet.edu/gts/help_desk/wireless_bisonnet_and_wired_in_dorms_faq.html.
