Needed: young deaf ASL signers for iPad eyetracking study

Is your child a deaf ASL user that is 4 or 7 years old? If the answer is "yes," you are invited to participate in a research project that studies visual attention patterns in deaf signing children.

Your child will be asked to use an uniquely designed iPad app with sign language video while an eyetracking machine will track your child's eye gaze.

The experiment is about 1 hour long and we'll pay you $20 for your participation plus give you a free download of VL2's The Baobab storybook app. (For more information about The Baobab, please visit www.vl2storybookapps.com)

Please contact BL2 to schedule an appointment: BL2@gallaudet.edu

This project has been approved by the Gallaudet IRB.

The principal investigators on the project are Dr. Laura-Ann Petitto, director, Brain & Language Lab (BL2); Dr. Thomas Allen, co-principal investigator, Visual Language and Visual Learning (VL2); and Melissa Malzkuhn, digital innovation and media strategies manager, VL2--all based at Gallaudet University.
