Amos Kendall

Gallaudet University—also known as 'Kendall Green'—began as a school for deaf and blind orphans in 1856 thanks to the generosity of politician and philanthropist Amos Kendall. Kendall was born on August 16, 1789 in Dunstable, Massachusetts and died on November 11, 1869 in Washington, D.C.
