Melissa and Matt Malzkuhn win People's Choice Award at Media Rise Now Festival
The ASL App team, which includes Melissa and Matt Malzkuhn, won the People's Choice Award during the September 27 Media Rise Now Pitch Night. The money the ASL App team received will go toward funding their project, "ASL for the People." The app is designed for anyone interested in learning conversational ASL. It is now in production with an anticipated release date of the late fall or early winter. Click here for a link to the app website.
Melissa Malzkuhn, a Co-Developer, received her BA (Communication Studies) and MA (Cultural Studies) from Gallaudet and currently works as a Digital Innovation Manager for VL2. She, and a team of Deaf talent, developed a storybook app titled "The Baobab." Co-Developer Matt Malzkuhn completed his BA (ASL and Deaf Studies) and MA (Cultural Studies) at Gallaudet. He is currently a PhD student in Cultural Studies at George Mason University and employed at Georgetown University as a Research Specialist under the Department of Neurology.
