Discussion about the Latino community in the U.S.

Date and Time:
15 October 2013
12:30 PM - 1:50 PM
Foster Auditorium

Film producer Barbara Martinez Jitner will present, "On the Border of a New America: Wall of Shadows." Jitner's movie, Bordertown (R-rated), is available on campus cable channel 3 (except at the Clerc Center).

"On the Border of a New America: Wall of Shadows" is the story of Jose who has lived his entire life in the U.S. but was wrongfully deported and is now trapped on the border, and Manuela who crosses the border because of an economic crisis in her homeland. Barbara Martinez Jitner's presentation explores the remarkable legacy of Latinos in the U.S. and how what is happening at our southern border not only affectes this community, but the entire country--creating a new dichotomy in the Latino national identity.
