Coach Curtis Pride featured in My Generation show on PBS

Gallaudet University athletics will receive more national recognition this summer as Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) will air episodes of AARP’s My Generation show featuring GU baseball coach Curtis Pride.

Pride is featured in the My Generation episode (#2023) titled “Connections that Count” as host Leeza Gibbons focuses on the relationships that matter most. The “Silence of Baseball” is a seven minute story on Pride and his life growing up to playing Major League Baseball to coming back home to coach at Gallaudet. Please check your local listings to see when the “Connections that Count” episode of My Generation will air in your area. On Maryland Public Television (MPT) the broadcast will air on its MPT2 channel on Sunday, July 10, at 10:30 a.m. MPT2 can be found on channel 480 if you have Verizon Fios, channels 268 if you have Comcast or channels 22.2 or 67.2 if you have over-the-air television. In Washington, D.C., WETA can be found on channels 526 (Fios), 219 and 220 (Comcast), 1026 (Cox), 613 (RCN), 26 (DirecTv) and 26.1 for over-the-air television.

“Silence of Baseball” was produced and edited by Don Fish who attended several Gallaudet baseball games and practices this past spring and conducted a lengthy interview with Pride at Nationals Park in D.C. The story highlights Pride’s accomplishment of becoming the only deaf baseball player to reach the majors in the modern era to taking over at the helm of the GU baseball program.
