Learn about graduate studies in Language Plasticity

An informational session will be held on Wednesday, October 9 from noon to 2 p.m. in the JSAC Java Corner for students interested in a new graduate interdisciplinary program (IGERT) in Language Plasticity at the University of Connecticut funded by the National Science Foundation.

Students are welcomed from a variety of backgrounds, including, but not limited to: biology; clinical psychology; developmental psychology; cognitive psychology; linguistics; and speech, language and hearing sciences.

All students will be trained via an interdisciplinary curriculum, gaining knowledge in areas outside their own field so they can efficiently work in teams that drive research and practice beyond typical discipline-specific studies.

IGERT offers competitive fellowships of $30,000 a year for the first 2 years, then normal departmental support for the remainder of the program. Funding is also available for:

  • International Research opportunities
  • New research incentives (i.e. equipment, participant fees, etc.)
  • Research-related travel; including conference presenting

Drop in at any time to pick up a brochure, sign up to receive emails, and talk with the IGERT representatives. Pizza will be served!
