Short Biography

Jose - Ovi, a native Texan, is currently a professor at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas,  where he has been emplyed since 2011. In Jose - Ovi's free time, his passion is being involved in the deaf community volunteering for organizations such as the National Council Hispano of Deaf and Hard of Hearing where he currently holds the position of treasurer, membership chair of Texas Association of the Deaf, secretary of Greatuer Houston ASLTA, moderator for ASL Curriculum, and coordinator for Senorita Latina Sorda. Jose - Ovi also enjoys menotirng anyone who is  interested in the deaf community, and planning activities for members of the deaf community.

As a student at Gallaudet, Jose - Ovi was involved in various organizations. He also served as chair of the 15th anniversary of the Deaf President Now (DPN) celebration and was director of the Miss Gallaudet pageant.

Jose - Ovi currently resides in Texas, where he is blessed to live near his neice and nephews, with whom he spends a lot of time with.
