Karen brings with her a wealth of experience to Gallaudet University Regional Center as the director of Southeast region. She has been actively involved in advocacy work and training at a non-profit agency in Frederick, Maryland. Karen was responsible for the management and delivery of quality services to consumers in the state of Maryland. Previously she was active in civic organizations serving various roles on the Board including a four-year term as Board Member on Gallaudet University Alumni Association (GUAA). Earlier in her career, Karen was employed at DawnSignPress (DSP), Deaf Counseling, Advocacy, and Referral Agency (DCARA) both in California, and Hawaii Services on Deafness (HSOD) in Honolulu. She has more than 25 years of experience in program planning, management, development, and the last 15 years in marketing and consulting. In 2007, Karen received awards from Maryland Association of the Deaf for "In Recognition of Her Service" and in 2003, the Maryland's Governor's Volunteer Service Certificate from MD Governor's Office.
