Dr. Sanyu Jaiswal joined the Speech Language Pathology Program of Department of Hearing Speech and Language Science , Gallaudet University in 2011, after a short stint of adjunct teaching in New York City. By training, she is a Speech Scientist/Speech Language Pathologist as well as an audiologist with a joint Master's degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, University of Mysore, India. She received her Ph.D in Speech and Hearing Sciences from The University of Iowa where her primary research focus was in the area of Voicing Control during Speech. Her research background extends to diverse aspects of laryngeal function including laryngeal neurophysiology, Inter- and Intra- Species Laryngeal Aerodynamics and Acoustics, Laryngeal Muscle Biomechanics and Physiology, and Vocal Fold Tissue Engineering. At Gallaudet, Dr. Jaiswal is interested in the voice and resonance characteristics of CI population and in Deaf speech, Role of Auditory Feedback on Speech Physiology and its Control, and Management of Voice and Resonance issues in AR clients. As she works towards honing her ASL skills, she continues to be fascinated by this new aspect of cross modality language acquisition.
