Types of Financial Aid

At Gallaudet University, we recognize the importance of a quality education and are dedicated to helping you achieve your goal of earning a college degree. We provide financial aid including scholarships, federal and non-federal student loans, work-study programs, grants, and funding from home-state Vocational Rehabilitation agencies. Aid is available to all students, including international students, graduate students, and current students.

Here, you will find information on each type of financial aid and how to apply for it. Each program is unique and has different eligibility requirements.

• Grants:Financial assistance, based on need, that does not have to be repaid.
• Scholarships: Financial assistance that does not have to be repaid and usually is awarded on the basis of academic merit.
• Vocational Rehabilitation: Federally funded state program designed to support students through training and education to secure employment.
• Tuition Waiver and Stipends (Graduates): Funded by graduate department(s)
• Tuition Waiver (Employees and Families): Reimbursement opportunity for eligible employees
• Federal Work Study: Federal funds promoting part-time employment, on or off-campus, for students who demonstrate financial need.
• Loans: Financial aid that will need to be repaid, with interest, after you graduate or leave college.
