Finding Internal Research Grant Opportunities for Faculty, Staff & Students at Gallaudet University

Gallaudet University has a mandated obligation to contribute knowledge likely to benefit the nation's deaf and hard of hearing people, particularly in the areas of education and human services. The Gallaudet Research Institute (GRI) invites Gallaudet faculty, staff, students and Clerc Center teachers and staff to apply to the Gallaudet research grants.

For Faculty, Staff and Students:

  1. Small Research Grants Program (SRG). The Small Research Grants Program accepts proposals for a wide range of research studies by Faculty, Clerc Center teachers, staff and students. It is expected that any research supported by the Small Research Grants Program include appropriate research methods. The Small Research Grants are limited funds that can be used up to 1 year.

For Faculty and Staff only:

  1. Priority Research Fund (PRF). The Priority Research Fund is designed to a seed grant to support research studies on campus in areas that have been determined to be of high importance to the University. The PRF allows campus researchers to conduct both basic and applied research on these 13 research priority areas using a wide range of methods. It is expected that Priority Grant Fund recipients will submit at least one proposal for external research funding as a result of their funding from the Priority Grant Fund. Students are not eligible to apply.
  2. Faculty Development Program (FDP). Faculty members are invited to submit written proposals for activities supporting the strategic plan at Gallaudet University. See the faculty development pages for details regarding the criteria, procedures and submission schedule.
  3. Research Collaborations and External Funding.Applicants are encouraged to develop collaborations with government, private sector, and other academic researchers. Such collaborations enhance and amplify not only the reach of your efforts, but the university's research strength overall. Applicants to PRF are expected to have made prior efforts to identify external funding sources, and to apply for external grants during or after the period of PRF funding. The Office of Sponsored Programs will assist investigator(s) in finding potential grantors (send an email to the Office of Sponsored Programs, Christine C. A. Katsapis, Director: christine.katsapis@gallaudet.edu).
