GSR 230: Science Fiction and PhilosoPhysics
Faculty: Dave Snyder and Barbara Stock

The GSR 230 students built their ROV (remotely operated vehicle) in the lab and they brought the vehicles to the Gallaudet pool as part of preparation for a space mission to Europa, an ice-covered moon of Jupiter with a deep ocean under the ice. The pool testing begins with the students preparing and adjusting their ROV for an underwater competition.  In the competition, they test the operation of their ROV and score points by (1) reading an alien message written on rocks attached to undersea chimneys and (2) collecting biosamples of crabs and worms that live on the bottom of the sea.
