Rayni Plaster has a degree in Communication Studies from Gallaudet University. She is a Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) and has been professionally interpreting for the past 9 years in a variety of community, professional, legal, educational and mental health settings. She has been fortunate enough to be able to pursue her passion of mentoring interpreters using proven techniques founded in the principles of Vygotskian Theory. She has logged over 400 hours of mentoring both pre-certified and certified interpreters. She is currently a staff interpreter and coordinates the mentoring program for Deaf Interpreters at GIS. She has trained mentors nationwide and provides mentoring to mentors as well as interpreters.
