October 6 (Monday)

Preventing Plagiarism: Using SafeAssign and Assignment Manager in Blackboard

SafeAssign is a plagiarism prevention service that allows you to protect the originality of work and ensure a fair playing ground for all of your students. SafeAssign is integrated with Blackboard, and prevents plagiarism by detecting unoriginal content in student papers within your existing teaching and learning environment. SafeAssign can also further deter plagiarism by creating opportunities to educate students on proper attribution and citations while properly leveraging the wealth of information at their disposal. Learn how to set up assignments in your Blackboard course site using the new SafeAssign tool and to interpret the reports that are automatically generated.

The NEW Grade Center (Blackboard 8.0)

Blackboard's redesigned and newly named, Grade Center formerly Gradebook exhibits new capabilities and vast improvements over the previous Gradebook. This new and easy-to-use grading tool increases efficiency and enables calculations, customization, analysis and flexibility. Instructors can enter scores more efficiently, select data to display, create and print reports, and customize display of the Grade Center. Come to this session to learn more about using the new Grade Center.

October 7 (Tuesday)

MyThreads (GSR 103 only!)

MyThread is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos and allows people to leave comments in 5 ways - using voice (with a mic or phone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam). Share a MyThread with friends, students, and colleagues for them to record comments too. Users can doodle while commenting, use multiple identities and pick which comments are shown through moderation. MyThreads can even be embedded on web sites and exported to MP3 players or DVDs as archival movies.

Transitioning to MS Word 2007

MS Office has developed a new user interface for version 2007. It was created to make these applications simpler to use. The menus and toolbars from prior versions are gone! This transition workshop is targeted to faculty and Staff who have used previous versions of Word and will be upgrading to Word 2007.

Video Compressing and MyMedia

We will show you how to compress your video for for more efficient online web streaming and using Gallaudet's MyMedia to store your streaming video files.

MS Office has developed a new user interface for version 2007. It was created to make these applications simpler to use. The menus and toolbars from prior versions are gone! This transition workshop is targeted to faculty and Staff who have used previous versions of PowerPoint and will be upgrading to PowerPoint 2007.
