Bridge to Honors
The Bridge to Honors is a program that supports students who may need an additional semester adjust to college or to develop skills needed for success in Honors. Students may be placed in the Bridge program when original placement decisions are announced, or that placement may be modified following the summer discussion board. Students in Bridge take the Honors First Year Seminar course and a special section of an accelerated English course. These courses are both taught by experienced Honors professors and give students the best opportunity to succeed in Honors.
Students who are admitted to the Bridge to Honors Program have the full rights and privileges of Honors students during their first semester, including access to the Honors Lounge. Bridge students are required to participate in the Summer Discussion Board and the Honors Retreat. At the end of their first semester, students may apply to be a full-fledged Honors student with the recommendation of both of their Honors professors.
Students do not receive the Honors portion of their scholarship awards while in the Bridge Program. If students are admitted to Honors after the first semester, they are eligible to receive the scholarship beginning in the second semester.
