What do you like about Gallaudet University?
Of course, I love the equal access to communication that I was not able to get at my other school, and the amazing friends that I have made who have become like family. I also love the opportunities that Gallaudet provides to their students, such as study tours, study abroad, internships, lectures, movies on-campus, etc.
What do you like about Honors?
I love the support that we get from the Honors staff as well as the additional opportunities that being in Honors opens up. It allows you to develop a closer relationship with your professors, which can be incredible networking opportunities.
What are your goals for after graduation?
To attend graduate school at Gallaudet University to obtain my masters in Deaf Education. After that, I have been considering a few options, perhaps join the Peace Corps, obtaining a teaching position in a Deaf school teaching English and Theatre, or even attending another graduate school for a second masters. I would also love to attend culinary school.
Are you involved in any areas of scholarship or research at GU (i.e. Capstone, VL2, internships)?
I will begin working on my own capstone project next year, however I am currently doing ground work with Honors Contracts to help build a foundation for what will soon become my capstone project. I will also be placed into an internship for each of my majors over the next two years.
What are your hobbies?
I am a major theatre geek. I have been acting and directing in community, semi-professional and professional theatre since I was 15 years old. I am also a huge movie buff-I own over 500 DVDs. In addition, I enjoy travelling to different places, reading, cooking, and wine.
Do you have any advice for students who are new to Gallaudet?
Take advantage of every opportunity that Gallaudet offers, it will make you a well rounded person having experienced many different things and after all, you only live once!
