New Employees Benefits Orientation for Regular-Status Employees

Staff

Your new department will be responsible for arranging your new benefits orientation with Human Resources Services.  However, you may also contact the Benefits Office through email or phone (202-250-2634 V/VP) to set up an one-on-one orientation. You should enroll in most benefits within the first 31 days of employment; therefore, it is important that you attend orientation as soon as possible. You will also receive an employee ID card from the Department of Public Safety and can sign up for a parking permit, if needed.

If your classification is something other than regular status, you may not be eligible for benefits other than those prescribed by law, or your benefits may be limited. Please contact the Benefits Office for more information.

Faculty
Your dean or another representative of the division of Academic Affairs will notify you when and where your orientation will be held. A portion of this orientation will be about benefits. If you do not attend this orientation, please contact the Benefits Office through email or phone (202-250-2634 V/VP). You need to enroll in most benefits during the first 31 days of regular status employment, which for most faculty appointments begin on August 16th.

Teachers
The group orientation for new teachers is normally held during the month of August.  Your new department will provide you with all of the information.  If you are unable to attend the group orientation, please contact the Clerc Center Human Resources Office.  You need to enroll in most benefits during the first 31 days of regular status employment, which for most teacher appointments begin on August 16th.
