Federal Communications Commission makes landmark decision, approves real time text (RTT) technology

Gallaudet University played a pivotal role in a recent landmark decision by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to phase out TTYs in order to transition to a new, internet-based, real-time text standard (RTT) compatible with future smartphones. RTT allows users to instantly see letters, characters, and words as they are being typed.
