Gallaudet Statistical Consulting

Working on a research study but stumped by the statistics? Want to talk with someone about study design?

Not sure which data analysis software to use?

Academic Affairs is pleased to announce the availability of free statistical consultations for the entire Gallaudet campus.

What's the purpose?

An important part of many research enterprises involves the collection, analysis, and interpretation of quantitative data. These consultations are intended to help researchers with all phases of their quantitative research.

Who is this available to?

Faculty, staff, and current students at Gallaudet who are involved in scholarly research are welcome. Priority is given to those who are designing studies as part of writing a proposal for research funding.

Who is doing the consultations?

Dr. Regina Nuzzo, professor in the Department of Psychology and the Department of Science, Mathematics and Technology. For more info on Dr. Nuzzo's areas of expertise, read her profile.

What does statistical consulting involve?

Appointments are generally 45 minutes long. Before the appointment, you'll provide a description of your problem along with any relevant background literature. At the appointment you'll bring printouts, notes, or a flash drive with your information. The consultation will involve guidance and advice, with suggestions for resources for further information. Since the goal is to promote independent research on campus, all data entry, cleaning, analysis, and write-ups will still be your responsibility. Likewise, we regret that we cannot provide help for coursework or private projects.

How does it work?

If you're interested in a statistical consultation, just fill out the Statistics Consulting Request Form. Dr. Nuzzo will be in touch to set up an initial appointment. Depending on the nature of the problem, follow-up appointments are available.
