Commencement Housing is one of Housing Operations' major housing events each year.
Approximately 800 family members converge at Gallaudet to watch their loved ones participate in Gallaudet University's annual Commencement.
Commencement is always a special time for a Gallaudet graduate. It is a time where the graduate shows family and friends what Gallaudet is all about. Families can take advantage of on-campus housing when their loved ones are one step away from joining the ranks of Gallaudet graduates before them.
Housing is available to those who wish to stay in University residence halls. This is designed to accommodate parents, families, and friends of graduating students every spring as well as off-campus students who are returning for the ceremony.
We are accepting requests on a first come, first serve basis from now until May 1, 2016.
Graduating students may stay from Monday, May 9, 2016 to Saturday, May 14, 2016.
Commencement guests may stay from Wednesday, May 11, 2016 to Saturday, May 14, 2016. Rates are $40.00 per person, per night; linens are included in this cost.
For more information on housing accommodations as guests, please visit our Visitor Housing page.
We strive to accommodate those who need special accommodations for medical/disability reasons. Please be sure to inform us what types of needs are needed. This includes, but is not limited to: suites with a bathtub, wheelchair accessibility, shower rails, and lower floors. Once we are aware of any accommodations, we will do our best to ensure they are met.
Our accommodations are much like what you would expect at a hostel; each of our guests will be provided with a twin-XL bed, student desk and chair, a closet/wardrobe, and a dresser. Guests staying in a suite with a private bathroom will be provided toilet paper. We do not provide other items such as toiletries (e.g., shampoo, soap, lotion), washcloths and hand towels, other personal-care items (e.g., hair dryer, hangers, iron), trashcans, refrigerators, microwaves, alarms/clocks, and the like, so please bring any other additional items you may need during your stay. TVs are available for use in the lobby areas.
