A native of San Diego, California, Julia first learned American Sign Language when she enrolled at the Kendall Demonstration Elementary School (KDES) in 1980 as a ten-year old young girl.
An avid traveller, she has travelled significantly in the Far East where she visited Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Because of her travels, she desires to travel more to see the world.
She received her Bachelor's in Social Work (BSW) from Gallaudet and is currently in her first year of study for her Master's Social Work (MSW). She has worked for the Office of Residence Life and Housing the past three years. She was a previous Resident Advisor, Resident Advisor Team Leader, and an Office Assistant. This is her fourth year with our office.
Her hobbies include reading poems, writing short stories, watching inspirational movies, taking photos of nature, and trips to museums. Upon obtaining her MSW, she hopes to stay in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area to work witih the deaf and hard-of-hearing population.
