OTHER SOURCES

You can optimize your search for financial aid by learning to use various Internet search engines and by visiting Applications and Other Useful Links provided by the Office of Financial Aid. Please note that not all of the sites listed on that website are graduate student-related.

WHEN TO START

The first step in seeking financial aid is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA form must be completed to apply for many types of financial aid. This application can be found at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov or obtained from our Financial Aid Office.

Prospective graduate students seeking financial aid from Gallaudet must apply for admission before any financial aid is awarded. As soon as your program application is complete, you can begin the financial aid application process. (Graduate Special Students are not eligible for federal aid or Gallaudet's scholarships/stipends.)

At Gallaudet, you must also complete the Gallaudet Institutional Financial Aid Application (IFAA) and Scholarship Application found at http://financialaid.gallaudet.edu

Individual student awards (for any type of aid) are made only after all necessary materials are received. Be sure and let your department know that you are interested. The awarding process for the fall semester begins in April.

We encourage you to explore the many scholarship, grant, loan, and work-study options available.

The information included here is not comprehensive, but is provided to give basic information about some of the financial resources that are available for graduate study.
