My name is Victor J. Cornejo. I was born in Lima, Peru and I have been deaf since birth. In the year of 2001, I began studying in the department of Civil Engineering at the Ricardo Palma University in Peru. I studied for five semesters, and then I withdrew due to the fact that I could not read the lips of my teachers. Peru does not provide interpreters as the United States does, so I decided to apply at Gallaudet University. I was accepted in the spring of 2005. Since English is not my first language, I ended up being an English Language Institute student. In spring 2011, I graduated at Gallaudet University majoring in Mathematics and Accounting. I have been teaching in the department of mathematics and computer science at Gallaudet University since Fall 2011.
