Summer Internship Opportunities

The Department of Science, Technology, & Mathematics is offering or sponsoring summer internships for deaf or hard-of-hearing undergraduate students for 2014.

This year's projects include (1) using computer science (bioinformatics) to study the molecular genetics of a common deafness gene, connexin 26, with Dr. Derek Braun;  (2) studying the ecological health of the Anacostia River, a tributary that is part of the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem, with Dr. Caroline Solomon; (3) in nanotechnology, with Dr. Paul Sabila; and (4) in limnology on site in Minnesota, with Dr. Daniel Lundberg.

In addition, via the Dorothy H and Gordon Brown fund, we are supporting one internship position to study aquatic ecology in Nova Scotia under the mentorship of Dr. Linda Campbell, a deaf ecologist out of St. Mary's University in Canada.
