Summer Youth Programs

Summer Programs 2012 offers a number of exciting, empowering, and dynamic programs for deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing high school teenagers. Designed for youth ages 14–18, these programs provide stimulating summer experiential and learning opportunities that blend excitement, education, and enjoyment in a bilingual environment rich in cultural diversity—and located just minutes away from historic Washington, DC!  All camps are held at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC

Knowledge for College
For deaf and hard of hearing college-bound 10th–12th graders
You can improve your ACT test scores through Gallaudet’s Knowledge for College Program! You will learn some tips and tricks for good measure and you’re well on your way to increasing your ACT scores. The session runs two weeks, July 8–21, 2012. Application deadline is May 25, 2012. For more information or to apply, visit Knowledge for College.

Immerse into ASL!
For deaf, hard of hearing and hearing 10th–12th graders
Immerse into ASL! is intended for deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing high school students who have little or no knowledge of ASL. The two sessions for the Immersion into ASL are July 8–21, and July 15–28, 2012. Each session runs two weeks. Life After High School
For deaf and hard of hearing college-bound 10th–12th graders

If you’re like most high school students, you either have too many interests or are uncertain what your interests are. Through Gallaudet’s Life After High School program, we’ll help you discover your future goals. This session runs two weeks from July 15 to 28, 2012.  Application deadline is May 25, 2012. For more information or to apply, visit Life After High School.

The Play's the Thing
Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing 6th– 8th graders
Middle school students (ages 12-14) will work with internationally acclaimed artists to explore the world of theatre. Students will stay on the campus of Gallaudet University and attend classes in acting, dance, and visual theatre and participate in some DC tours. The session runs 2 weeks, July 8–20, 2012.
