English coaches work with undergraduate and graduate students who want help with all kinds of academic writing, reading and signing. Using English and/or ASL, Language Advisors give feedback and offer guidance on coursework, research papers, essays, abstracts, summaries, classroom presentations, book reviews, as well as business writing such as letters, reports, proposals and resumes.
While English coaches do NOT edit or proofread papers, they do make suggestions on how students can make changes to their own writing projects in the areas of organization, grammar, vocabulary and clear communication.
We do not provide feedback on take-home exams.
Available by walk-in. If a paper is longer than four pages, a student may have to make an appointment for writing advice. This gives the Language Advisor time to prepare for the session.
