Apply as a Transfer Student

Submit your completed online application, official high school (or college) transcript, and official ACT or SAT scores before December 5th to get your $50 application fee waived.

To be considered for President's Honors Distinction and Provost's Honors scholarships, submit your completed application packet for review by February 1st. For Provost's Excellence, Dean's Prestige, and Academic Recognition scholarships, please submit your application as soon as possible, as they're awarded on a rolling basis. 

Before You Apply:

  • Look for course equivalencies
  • Submit your college transcript for a transfer credit evaluation (TCE)
  • Submit your ACT or SAT report
    • ACT/SAT waiver is applied if 12 credits in College English and College Math are earned ('C' or higher grade required).
  • Submit your Advanced Placement (AP) credit report
  • Prepare a budget for college
    • Explore Federal Financial Aid options
    • Connect with Vocational Rehabilitation
    • Explore other sources of financial assistance
  • Meet your admissions counselor

When You Apply:

  • Submit the application
    • Apply online
    • Print the application
  • Pay the $50 application fee
  • Write two essays
  • Send two letters of recommendation
  • Request that your high school and/or college transcript(s) be sent to Gallaudet University
  • Submit your ACT or SAT scores (with Writing)
  • Submit your audiogram
  • Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after January 1, 2014

After You are Admitted:

Step One

  • Look for your acceptance packet in the mail
  • Mail a sealed official & final high school and/or college transcript
    1. School seal
    2. Official's signature
    3. Final GPA
    4. Graduation date
    5. Type of diploma (standard, regular, honors, local, regents, etc)
  • Set up your BISON account
  • Submit your Intent to Enroll (ITE) form and enrollment fee of $100 (via E-Forms )
  • Submit your Housing Contract and deposit of $200 (via E-Forms )
  • Submit your New Student Orientation (NSO) fee of $100 (via E-Forms )
  • Submit a completed Medical History form

Step Two

  • Take the required placement test(s) online
  • Fill out a student checklist for your Academic Advisor
  • Complete your Institutional Financial Aid Application (IFAA) by July 1, 2014

Step Three

  • Check with your Academic Advisor to make sure your classes are registered
