If so, you may want to investigate Communication Studies as a major. Communication studies is the study of formal and informal communication communication at home, in the workplace, in social activities, through the mass media, and in the community. Employers consistently cite communication skills as the major requirement for success in professional careers.
The Communication Studies Department offers a major and a minor in Communication Studies, as well as a minor in journalism. A major in communications studies focuses on interpersonal communication, public communication, and mass communication. You will learn how to relate to individuals and groups.You will be taught to think critically, to express and advocate ideas effectively, and to understand and appreciate the diversity of human communication practices.
Many communication studies graduates pursue careers in teaching, consulting, organizational administration and management. Others use the communication studies major to prepare for careers in law, ministry, politics and community relations, as well as for graduate studies.
