Do you have great imagination and enjoy being creative? Have you been told you have a "good eye" for capturing images? You may want to consider a rewarding career in photography. Taking a good photograph requires a combination of excellent technical know-how and artistic flair. Good photographers have skills in problem solving, technical skills, design, electronic imaging, and video.
The Art Department offers a major and minor in Photography. As a photography student, you will take courses in photographic processes, art appreciation, art history, black-and-white photography, color photography, digital imaging, design, drawing, painting and sculpture. You will use darkrooms, studio, and automatic processing equipment to complete work in both black and white and color photography.
As a major, you will be provided an education that embraces change in the advances of photographic art and technology and industry standards. You will develop creativity and skill through photographic practice and will be prepared for entry into employment, self-employment, and further education.
