Navigating the City

Many tourists enjoy walking around DC as they visit monuments, gardens and unique restaurants. However, the Metro-rail and Metrobusses are good choices for travel at an affordable price. The are many transportation options and online resources to help you.

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority opened a new Metro rail station on New York Ave NE near Gallaudet University in November 2004. While still under construction, the station name was changed fromNew York Ave to New York Ave-Florida Ave-Gallaudet U

From the station's 30-foot-tall platform, riders can see the Capitol dome off one end and the headquarters of XM Satellite Radio to the northwest. Near the station is the headquarters for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
