Ways to Support Gallaudet

Gallaudet University offers you many different ways to make a gift. Some methods require more planning than others such as planned gifts which consist of bequests, estates, and life insurance. Other methods such as payroll deductions and electronic fund transfers are simple and quick ways to make a gift.

Checks
The Development Office does accept checks as donations to the Gallaudet University. They can be mailed to:

Gallaudet University

Development Office

800 Florida Ave. NE
Washington, DC 20002

EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) Program
By joining our monthly giving program, your donations can be automatically deducted from your bank account on bi-weekly or monthly basis. For each deductions made, it will be reflected on your bank statement.  If you are interested, please contact Matthew.sickon@gallaudet.edu for the enrollment form.

Gifts of Stock
Another way you can give to Gallaudet is by giving a stock gift. By doing this, you will be eligible to benefit from tax deductions on the capital gains.

In order for Gallaudet to accept a gift of stock, it must be made through a broker; the broker must contact Merrill Lynch and inform them to transfer the shares to Gallaudet. For more information on how to implement this process, please see Stock Gift Process.

Matching Gifts
Your gift may be doubled or more if you work for a company with a matching gift program. Spouse and retiree gifts may also be matched. Please ask your employer for details.

Outright Gifts
This approach is the most simple and frequently used method of giving. It is when you decide to give by personal check made payable to Gallaudet University. Other cash gifts are received in currency, money orders, bank drafts, or credit cards. You can also make a gift online with your Visa or MasterCard.

Payroll Deduction
Many companies and businesses offer their employees the opportunity to support their charity of choice through payroll deductions.  Please check with your employer’s Human Resources or Payroll Office to see if this option is available to you.

Pledge
Gallaudet gratefully accepts pledges, however, a pledge to make a gift may not be deducted for tax purposes until the year in which the actual payment is made.

Wills/Bequests
A gift through your Will can provide significant support to Gallaudet and may benefit your estate at the same time. Any assets, including cash, securities, and real estate may be transferred to Gallaudet University through a bequest made by a Will or a trust.

Where Your Gift Goes?
It’s entirely your choice, you tell us how you would like to support Gallaudet.  We will accommodate your wish. One hundred percent of your gift will support only the program or area you select.   No portion of your gift will be used to offset administration costs.

Gifts to the Fund for Gallaudet  support priorities identified by the University; however, if you wish to direct your gift exclusively to a scholarship fund, a program or project, please indicate your preference when you send in your gift.

The University has specific funding priorities you may wish to support. To view our top priorities, please go to Funding Priorities.
