Consortium
Gallaudet University is a member of the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area. The purpose of the program is to provide Gallaudet undergraduate students with opportunities to supplement their academic curriculum. Students can take advantage of diverse academic offerings, enhance their major curriculum, or explore new interests.
To qualify for a course through the consortium program, a student must meet the following criteria:
- Be a full-time degree-seeking student at Gallaudet University.
- Be in a good academic standing.
- Have completed all non-degree conditional courses.
- Be at least a second-semester freshman.
- Enroll in only one consortium course per semester unless special permission is given by the Gallaudet undergraduate consortium advisor. (Karen Cook, Academic Advising Office).
- Complete the "Undergraduate Consortium Registration Authorization" form and obtain the signed approval of the academic advisor, Gallaudet consortium advisor, and the appropriate associate dean.
Opportunities to take additional consortium courses are contingent on successful performance in the student's currently enrolled consortium course.
Students who are enrolled in consortium member institutions are able to attend certain classes at the other campuses and have the credit considered as resident credit at their own institutions.
The Registrar's Office will provide interpreter information with the consortium cross registration to the visited school to be submitted to the student support office at the consortium school.
Consortium courses cannot be audited.
Payment of tuition for consortium courses will be made at the rate of and to the student's home campus.
