Welcome to Gallaudet's home page for the office of Multicultural Student Programs! That's a pretty big name for a small unit, so we call it MSP for short. MSP is a cultural advocacy and resource unit within the department of Student Affairs. It provides support and services primarily to racial and ethnic minority students and their organizations. MSP assists Gallaudet in the effort to "value and nurture the wealth of cultural, linguistic and ethnic diversity that enrich our community."
The Mission of MSP: Unity in Diversity
One of the strengths of our American heritage is that we are a diverse society with many shared ideals. At MSP, our central mission is to educate students while promoting unity through diversity. It is true that there are many ways in which we are all the same; however, it is often around points of difference that misunderstandings and misrepresentations arise. That's why MSP encourages the campus community to learn about and value its rich diversity. Once we move beyond misinformation and fear, we can join together to celebrate our many cultures and recognize the strength that diversity brings to a united community.
