Profile: The Honorable Sherrod Brown

Sherrod Brown

Sen. Brown is a graduate of Yale University and earned master's degrees in education and public administration from The Ohio State University. He has an honorary doctorate from Capital University,
Columbus, Ohio.

Before he began his career in politics, he worked with the Ohio State University's renowned Mershon Center for International Security Studies, where he wrote the curriculum and trained teachers and educators in Poland about democracy after the Communist government fell.

Sen. Brown was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1974 and to the U.S. Senate in 2006. He sits on the Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee; the Banking Committee; the Health,
Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee; and the Veterans Committee.

Sen. Brown is married to Connie Schultz, a Pulitzer Prize winning columnist for the Cleveland Plain Dealer. They have four children.
