Clasroom Safety Approach

  1. Clerc Center will follow CDC and OSSE recommendations and requirements on classroom safety strategies.
  2. Each individual strategy lowers the risk of transmission of COVID-19; these strategies are most effective when used together, in a layered approach.

Masking

Maintain universal and proper use of masks.

Handwashing

Wash hands - or apply sanitizer - using proper technique and at key times.

Podding

Under high community transmission, pods minimize potential exposure and facilitate testing/contact tracing.

Physical Distancing

Maintain 3+ feet of distance between students in classrooms and other indoor environments.

Cleaning/Sanitation

Increase cleaning of surfaces and high-touch areas using EPA-recommended products.

Classroom Design

Modify layouts and use of spaces to optimize for social distancing and other safe behaviors.

Classroom Safety (KDES)

  • Masks worn, except during meals and mask breaks.
  • Students will be part of pods, to lower risk and aid contact tracing.
  • Fresh air introduced to the extent possible.
  • Handwashing or sanitation stations added to classrooms.
  • Desks and learning stations distanced by 3+ feet.
  • Classrooms cleaned daily by custodial staff. Students may clean their personal workspace / items.
