The School of Science, Technology, Accessibility, Mathematics, and Public Health (STAMP) Summer Bridge Program is a free four-week program held at the end of the summer, just before the start of the fall semester. Hosted by Gallaudet’s STAMP, the program welcomes deaf and hard of hearing students from underrepresented groups who are interested in science, technology, or mathematics. The program gives students an introduction to life at Gallaudet, puts them on the path to success, and provides continued support through their first year in STEM majors!

During the program, students will:

  • Learn about topics such as cybersecurity, epidemiology, environmental science, and data science through a variety of hands-on activities
  • Build a network of peers
  • Meet deaf and hard of hearing professionals and faculty members working in science, technology, and mathematics.
  • Travel to DC area sites. Possible locations include the Anacostia River, the Museum of Natural History, the Air and Space Museum, and Northrop Grumman’s Innovation Center.
  • Participate in fun evening activities with JumpStart: American Sign Language (ASL) students
  • Attend workshops about important resources and tips for success at Gallaudet

To be eligible to attend, students must be:

  • Deaf or hard of hearing
  • Entering Gallaudet during the Fall 2024 semester. Both entering freshmen and transfer students are eligible.
  • A member of a group that is underrepresented in science, technology, or mathematics fields. Underrepresented groups include BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of color) students, first-generation college students, women, and students eligible for Federal Pell Grants.

*Note: Students who are eligible for both JumpStart ASL and the STAMP Summer Bridge Program should attend JumpStart: ASL.

The STAMP Summer Bridge Program is funded by Proctor & Gamble and Northrop Grumman.
